Sapphire Akitas is a small kennel in Eastern Washington.  Our goal is to breed American Akitas that adhere to the AKC breed standard and also have appropriate temperaments to become wonderful pets and companions.  The Akita is considered an assertive and powerful breed.  This is exactly why we firmly believe that temperament and training is of utmost importance.  Our dogs compete in the conformation ring but also attend obedience, rally, and agility classes.  Any dog we keep will earn its Rally Novice title at the very least, in addition to showing in the conformation ring. 

In addition to being “show dogs”, our dogs are our beloved house pets as well.  We may be guilty of occasionally referring to them as our children.
